Over a decade helping people get unstuck

About Dr. Naomi Wright

My path to psychology began through advocacy to prevent violence against women and children. As an undergraduate at the University of Oregon, I worked with organizations dedicated to supporting survivors and strengthening community responses to violence. Those experiences continue to shape how I understand healing and resilience. I see therapy as a way to reduce suffering at the individual level while recognizing that many of life's challenges are shaped by broader social, economic, and cultural conditions that require collective change.

Another important influence on my work is my background in theater. Years spent performing and participating in creative productions taught me the value of curiosity, connection, and humor. Today, those experiences help me make therapy engaging, collaborative, and developmentally appropriate for children and teens.

I also bring a strong research background to my clinical work. I have conducted and published research on trauma, violence prevention, child maltreatment, mental health, and healthcare access. That scientist-practitioner foundation guides my commitment to using evidence-based therapies that have been shown to work, while tailoring treatment to each individual’s and family's unique needs.

I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver with a concentration in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience. I completed my APA-accredited internship in Child Psychology at Denver Health Medical Center and postdoctoral fellowship in Behavioral Pediatrics at Oregon Health & Science University.

Today, I am a licensed child psychologist, teen therapist, and young adult therapist providing therapy in Portland, Oregon in person at my office in NE and via telehealth throughout Oregon. I specialize in helping young people and families navigate difficulties such as anxiety, OCD, trauma, ADHD, autism, behavioral challenges, and identity development using evidence-based approaches including ERP, ACT, CBT, parent training, and family therapy. I also provide gender-affirming care and support for transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse youth and young adults.
